3 Natural Ways To Detox Skin

3 Natural Ways To Detox Skin

January 25, 2016

One of our main goals at Herb'N Eden is to promote longevity & sustainability. We believe that it starts with the body temple. Take care of your temple & it will maintain, as with anything we utilize on a daily basis. Our bodies are constantly under a toxic attack & therefore it is always cleansing. A lot of the products we add to our bodies can hinder the toxic elimination process.

Now you may ask, what can I do to aid my body in daily detox? There are multiple great ways to detox your skin, lets focus on some simple ways you can ensure detox.

1. Add fresh fruit to your daily water intake

For most of us it isn't as easy to drink tasteless water, then it is to drink a glass of juice or my personal favorite, wine! A great way to add flavor to your water is by adding fresh fruit. I emphasize fresh fruit because frozen fruit isn't the same unless you've frozen it yourself. Even then the initial nutrients present in the fruit are not as effective. Simply adding lemon to your water is an effective detox that also alkalizes your water, this is important because regulated city water is full of toxins itself like chlorine & fluoride.

Water is essential to life & once incorporated into your daily routine, you will be taking a small step in fighting everyday toxins. If you're feeling adventurous mix it up with some mint, cucumber, berries, etc, or even add water in a wine glass with fruit & sip away!

2.Start a juice cleanse

Don't let your new year's resolutions be the only reason you start a juice cleanse. It's important to have at least one juice cleanse a week, whether it be incorporating a daily juice into your "healthy" diet, or a full on 3 or 7 day juice only cleanse. Many fruits contain much needed nutrients like magnesium, potassium, iron, etc. The juicer is your oyster! You can make an endless amount of juice combos based on your preference of taste. Invest in some juice cookbooks or the free resource of apps like Pinterest to keep your combos creative. Juicing is exciting & your skin will thank you for the nutrients by looking clearer!

3. Use a Bentonite Clay or Activated Charcoal facial

Bentonite Clay and Activated Charcoal are two powerful healing powders proven to effectively detox the skin. Bentonite clay also commonly referred to as "healing clay", is made from volcanic ash and protects the body's immune system. Activated charcoal is derived from the carbon process of charcoal or bamboo char and has numerous uses. Both powders draw toxins from the skin when used externally clearing the pores & retaining natural skin oils.

To make a mask simply mix about 2 tablespoons with enough water to make a thick paste. You can also add a drop of essential oils like peppermint, tea tree, lemongrass, or lavender. Add the paste to your face and let dry and sit for 5-10 mins. Wash the mask off, pat dry your face, and add a light moisturizer like coconut oil.

These 3 natural ways to detox skin are some of our favorite ways in conjunction with using natural soap of course! By including these practices in your daily or weekly routine, you aid your skin with it's natural elimination method. Remember your body is your temple & you must maintain it!

There is always a challenging moment in yoga. Emotions may come up, aligning your breath to movements, or tightness will be revealed. My perspective on challenges is that they should be hard and uncomfortable. Once that challenge is identified, worked through, & overcome only strength & wisdom can be gained.
