The Earth has many rich and natural abundant resources. Clay, is one substance full of minerals with powerful qualities to draw out toxins. Easily sourced, this skincare gem has been around since the beginning of time . There are various types of clay that work to exfoliate the skin or tighten your pores. You can create face masks, poultices, and more with each type.

Bentonite Clay

A natural volcanic ash sediment high in silica and aluminum. Bentonite Clay is mild for most skin types. It can be applied as a face mask or as a poultice to any other part of the body to remove impurities.

Green Clay

Highly composed of plant matter, therefore the skin happily absorbs minerals such as copper and magnesium. Green Clays such as French Clay or Sea Clay are compatible with most skin types. It especially helps oily skin by absorbing oils and maintaining sebum (natural skin oil) production.

Red Clay

Red Clay from Georgia to Morrocco is extremely high in iron and an effective skin detox. Once applied to the skin red clay binds impurities and dirt into it's paste until dried. It's drawing abilities make it a great toner and cleanser for acne prone, oily, and problem skin.

White Clay

Considered the most sensitive of the clays, white kaolin clay is often least drying. It's mild enough even for dry skin, as it's creamy texture helps to soften and soothe skin. White clay is good to use for sensitive skin.

Clays are the perfect natural detoxifier, acting as a natural magnet to remove toxins. Clays also mildly exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells. Our skin replenishes it's cells on average every 27 days or so. Chock full of nutrients, clay replenishes skin giving the good and taking away the bad.

Just wanted to share a pic of myself with a sea clay mask that I make from time. The recipe included sea clay, aloe vera gel, distilled water, and flax seed meal. Very moisturizing, cooling, and refreshing!
